After winning the State Championship, The West Robeson Baseball All-Stars Team represented North Carolina at the 2021 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series. Lumbee River EMC and individuals from the community and other local businesses helped sponsor the team’s trip to Laurel, Mississippi, from August 6th through the 11th, where they competed.
The team placed 3rd in the Dixie Youth Baseball series and received the Sportsmanship Award. “This team has a lot of heart, they have a lot of fight, and they work hard,” head coach Eric Freeman said. “They enjoy success, and they work hard to get there.”
All the players on the team live in Pembroke, Union Chapel, Red Springs, Prospect, and Lumberton. Lumbee River EMC is committed to investing in our youth, which is a direct investment in the communities we serve. Lumbee River EMC congratulates these gentlemen on their accomplishments and thank them for representing our community well.
The Dixie Youth Baseball league was established in 1955. Its mission is to promote the development of strong character, a right attitude, a sense of responsibility, and citizenship in youngsters using the game of baseball as a vehicle.
