At Lumbee River EMC, we know the power we deliver goes beyond electricity. This February, during National Engineers Week (February 16-22, 2025), we proudly recognize the engineers who make sustainable energy available for our members. National Engineers Week was created by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1951. This year’s theme, "Design Your Future” is about celebrating engineers and engaging students! As we celebrate the accomplishments of engineers past and present who have designed the future we currently live in, we also look to the next generation and how we can inspire kids to pursue engineering careers that will be focused on designing our future!
Engineers are the backbone of LREMC’s operations, ensuring our members have safe, reliable, and efficient power. They play a key role in:
- Grid Resilience: Engineers modernize our grid to withstand extreme weather and adapt to evolving demands.
- Energy Management:Working on ways to help incorporate emerging technologies such as batteries, EV chargers, and microgrids to better manage energy efficiency.
- Safety Standards: They ensure our infrastructure meets stringent safety requirements, protecting our community and workforce.
Their expertise ensures that every light switch flipped, every device powered, and every home warmed relies on a dependable system.
How You Can Celebrate National Engineers Week
- Thank an Engineer: Take a moment to appreciate the work engineers do to keep our world running smoothly.
- Encourage STEM Learning: Support young learners exploring STEM fields—they could be the next generation of innovators.
At LREMC, we are proud to celebrate the vital role engineers play in building a brighter, more innovative future.
