The LREMC Christmas Care Program continues to grow, making an even greater impact on local families during the holiday season. What began as a meaningful way to give back has steadily expanded, reflecting the generosity and commitment of the cooperative and its employees.
Last year, the program supported 100 families across the community. This year, that number increased to 150 families, allowing even more households to receive help during a time when it is needed most. Through the combined efforts of employees and the Employee Association Committee, donations totaling $5,530.00 were raised. The LREMC Board of Directors further demonstrated its support by matching those contributions with an additional $5,550.00, significantly strengthening the reach of the program.
Each participating family received $60.00 in food vouchers to help offset holiday expenses. These vouchers were designated to cover essential groceries as well as traditional holiday items such as ham or turkey, fruits, and vegetables. In addition, every child under the age of 10 received a toy, helping ensure the holiday season included moments of joy and excitement for younger family members.
The continued growth of the Christmas Care Program highlights LREMC’s dedication to serving its community beyond providing electricity. Through teamwork, generosity, and a shared commitment to giving back, the cooperative helps make the holidays brighter for families throughout the region.
