Hurricane Season Preparedness

Hurricane Season Preparedness

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. At Lumbee River EMC, your safety is our top priority. Use the information below to prepare before, during, and after a storm.

⛔ Before the Storm

  • Build an emergency kit with essentials: water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and first-aid supplies.
  • Charge mobile devices and backup batteries.
  • Secure outdoor furniture and trim trees.
  • Know your local evacuation route.
  • Update your contact info with us through your Lumbee River EMC account.

⚡ During the Storm

  • Stay indoors and away from windows.
  • Keep flashlights ready – do not use candles.
  • Avoid downed power lines – stay 35 feet away and call (910)-843-4131
  • Monitor local alerts using NOAA Weather Radio or apps.

🔌 After the Storm

  • Report outages via our Outage Map or by calling (910)-843-4131
  • Use generators outdoors only – at least 20 feet from your home.
